Recent Study Indicates Mobile SEO Becoming More Important

According to a study prepared by BrightEdge, ranking within the top three organic positions on search engines is becoming increasingly important for mobile marketing. Click-through rates among the top three search engine ranking positions (SERPs) are significantly higher than the remaining positions on page one. However, the drop-off in click-through rates are magnetized after the first page, as it falls by around 50 percent between positions 10 and 11 on tablets, and more than 60 percent on smartphones. As mobile technology becomes more prevalent, even ubiquitous in some locations, it’s important to invest in a sound search engine optimization strategy to capture users from both desktop and mobile marketing platforms. It becomes even more crucial for businesses that survive on local marketing and foot traffic, which is why an optimization campaign that includes Google Places is essential.

Twitter Files for IPO

Using its own platform to update users, Twitter announced via a tweet that the company will be going public sometime in the near future. This is the biggest IPO announcement in the social media world since Facebook went public in May of 2012. In fact, preliminary estimates indicate that Twitter can be valued at up to $10 billion. Part of what makes this announcement interesting for marketing professionals and users alike is that the general public has become comfortable with the relatively ad-free platform. Sure, promoted tweets, accounts, and trends are visible, but are not even close to being as obtrusive as Facebook ads. However, once Twitter goes public, they will have to increase revenue to appease stockholders, despite projecting $582.8 million in ad revenue for 2013 and $1 billion for next year. For the typical power-tweeter, be on the lookout for ads to become more prevalent in the coming years.

Making lives easier for advertisers, Google has introduced a brand new feature that provides both Adwords and organic data within the Google Adwords reporting interface. Prior to this update, most reports displayed the paid and organic data separately, providing users with limited opportunities to gain valuable insights on user behaviour. With the new reporting update in place, advertisers can compared the performance of a search query for when an ad is showing, when it’s an organic listing, or when both are appearing on the same page.

Facebook’s Mobile Ad Share Triples in 2013

Screen-Shot-2013-08-28-at-9.37.47-AM

Facebook’s latest updates to their social media advertising platform are generating significantly positive results for the company, with its global mobile ad share increasing from 5.35% to 15.80% over the course of one year. This recent success has been translating well for the social networking giant, as it has completely erased its poor performance on the stock market and has once again reached a market cap of $100 billion, making those that prophesied its demise earlier this year look a little foolish. Google still has a controlling demand of the mobile advertising market, with over 50% of the market advertising share, but Facebook’s recent gains prove that it will not go away any time soon.

Even small and medium sized businesses today need to rely on many different tools and technologies to operate. Some of these tools are trade-specific while others are common to all businesses, like accounting software. Whatever combination of these tools your business may use, it’s likely that you’ve considered seeing two or more of them working better as team at one point or another.

Tedious data entry, inefficient processes and a lack of informative business intelligence gathering are just a few of many good reasons to invest in your technical infrastructure. For example, an iPhone app can be used to better track employees and evaluate their progress while out in the field. Another example might be integrating a CRM with an inventory control system to make accounting and reporting processes more efficient.

Vine’s Sharing on Twitter Plummets as Instagram’s Video Launch Proves Successful

instagram-vs-vine-610x343

Prior to Instagram launching support for videos, Vine was quickly rising in popularity as a social media network for video sharing. Users loved the idea of creating quick six-second videos and sharing to Twitter easily, providing an alternative to the sometimes stale photo-sharing applications available. However, Instagram’s video launch has pushed Vine out of the spotlight, with the latter application seeing a 40% drop in links being shared to Twitter on June 20th alone. However, the death knell won’t ring for Vine just yet, especially if Twitter focuses on enhancing it’s flagship video-sharing product in the embittered battle between itself and Facebook.
